WOW! That is MUCH better than those scans. I'd say 65RB. Are you going to send it in for grading? According to Numismedia, a 65RB is a whopping $1,840.00! Even if it came back 64RB, it is still listed at $880. I found the completed listing on ebay. Man, I'd say you hit PAY DIRT on this one! LOL!

If so great cherrypick. Great strike for a 24-D. Only standout weakness is the 4.
Yup, my cherrypick and a good bit of luck. With a reverse like that I don't mind the 4 at all.

I'm going to my dealer tomorrow so he can give his approval. If says it looks good, I'll give it to him for PCGS. This coin is one that has to be in a slab. I like the CDN pricing for this in 65 red: $11,500.

Now we can see it! Very nice pick up!
I'd guess MS64RB. Let us know what your dealer and PCGS say. It sure looks like a solid 64.

Wow! That LWC looks even better now. I will say though that you do have the guts. I think I would be too chicken to do anything to that coin prior to sending it off. Do you think the minute verdigris would have prevented it from being graded?

I don't think it would have, but I wasn't going to take the chance. Plus, I don't want to look through a slab and see those tiny specks of verdigris. This conservation took about 1 minute total, I trust my product and I knew exactly what it was going to do. If I don't trust it and prove it can pass through a TPG, then my customers won't trust the product. I intend on earning their trust by demonstrating mine.

Thad,
What is the process with Verdi-care? Do you soak the coin? Jim

Jim,
It depends on the coin. In this case, the verdigris was completely removed in about 10 seconds with just a soak like you see in the picture (a few drops on the surface). However, I treated both sides since I'm submitting to PCGS. I allowed the the coin to fully dry for 24 hours (both sides), put it in a plastic flip and gave it to my dealer. Now I have to probably wait 3-4 months to get it back.

I'll be curious to know how it grades. I'm guessing at MS64 and I hope you dont end up regretting cleaning it.
