The way I see it, is the people that had the privilege to sell, should still have it. They agreed to that when they signed up, and they earned it.

Quote: The way I see it, is the people that had the privilege to sell, should still have it. I agree with you but despite my opinion, Bobby has issued a new rule and everyone needs to respect that. There is just no way to enforce any kind of grandfathering for those that have sold and who got 50 before the rule change. Keep in mind that selling on here is a privilege...not a right.

Rules are rules and sometimes they have to be changed for what ever reason. We all just have to accept things for what they are. If you are active on the forum then you will meet all requirements in a short time.

I've only got a couple hundred to go! No problem. LOL! It's like eating a elephant 1 bite at a time.

Hey mmerc - I had also qualified before the rule was changed. I posted something at auction that was won by a very young, very immature member. After 2 weeks of waiting for his money and e-mail responses, he informed me that he no longer wanted the item he had won at auction. Not sure what recourse I had, I e-mailed the moderators on what I should/could do. Unfortunately I never had the courtesy of a reply to my question. By that time the auction had been removed so I couldn't even award the item to the next highest bidder. I also couldn't re-post it since I was no longer eligible to sell items.
So what did I learn from this experience? First, there's no flexibility in the selling rule so there's no sense in fighting it. Second, 250 posts is not a good measure of the integrity of the member. Third, I will never interact with that immature member again, neither buy nor sell nor information. From what I see, he continues to burn bridges on a regular basis.

the things you people don't seem to understand is that selling on this site is a privilege not a right just because you are a member. If everyone wants to complain the owner of the site could just delete that section all together then there would be no reason to have these type of arguments about it any longer. it is just a place for established members to exchange stuff with each other not something that has to happen on the forum at all. It is just like your drivers license, just because you turn 16 doesn't mean you have the right to drive. you have to go through the appropriate steps to acquire that privilege. its not a right as soon as you turn 16. Same thing applies to this forum, there are appropriate steps you have to go through to acquire the right to sell on here its not something that is just handed to you because you signed up on the forum
Stjoeblues, you are correct the 250 post isn't exactly a fix all it is just the type of experience you have already had that we are trying to avoid. You have no idea how many people would join this site each week and throw a couple of one liners like "cool coin" to reach 50 posts after joining and then head straight for the B/S/T section and post something for sale. it was not meant to cause anyone any hard feelings nor against any specific person, it was just discussed and we felt that if we raised it high enough these type of members wouldn't even bother because it would give us time to track these people with their one liners and bump their posts back to an appropriate number because sometimes people did slip under the radar. Stjoeblue's experience is exactly one of the reasons we made the changes, since his problem he has seen this member(I dont even know who it is so not pointing fingers) have allot more problems with others (from what he said) he has decided to not ever do business with him again which his own prerogative and we hope the raise in post count will allow our members to really see what another member is like so they can decide for themselves if they want to make a transaction with that particular member. We have some of the best members on the net but sometimes we get a stray in here that can cause problems for others before any red flags are thrown up and they get noticed, this extra post count was an attempt to see those red flags raising before they are at full mast

Personally, I didn't join this forum to sell coins. I joined to learn about the hobby, and from the very first responses to my first post concerning an unID coin, I started learning. The knowledge I've gained in two years here is worth a lot more to me than the few bucks I might gain from selling coins. I say, if you're here only to sell, you're here for the wrong reason.

let me rephrase that, I'm sorry that I was not able to pay, I am very slow at mailing stuff because my parents forget. I also have to earn money, I don't just get money from my parents for no reason.
I'm very sorry and next time I will make sure I have the money before I bid or buy

It appears the young man is learning about more than just coins. Admirable.
