For someone like myself who's fairly comfortable with Photoshop, the retouching in those images couldn't be more obvious. The guy snagged a color and airbrushed the cheek and fields, with no real sense of subtlety. Here's a quick example from my collection - I did this in five minutes especially for this post: Here's the same coin, before airbrushing: Give me a few minutes, and I'll do one right - that'll change your opinion of trusting auction pics.

Dave,You hit the nail on the head with that one.Thas exactly what he did and I believe he changed the date by inserting the "4" also, and he did a poor job of that as well.He left it to big.WOW,it sold for $1025....

Dave as I look at your craftsmanship , I would have to agree with you and TLS5933 that is axactly what was done in my opioion. Great job.. How mad would ebay get at a person, and is it ethically right to email the buyer and make said person aware of the info A person might have come up with to discredit the sale because of something fishy. And did any one catch that out claus I mentioned that the person had listed it as gold. What do you think of that..

Now, who's in the market for a nice MS65 1904 Morgan? That was 15 minutes' work, with a coin that I photographed for the express purpose of revealing every scratch.

I looked a little deeper into this seller's feedback, other coins for sale, and coins he's purchased. ALL of the coins he's currently selling are photoshopped. The purchases he's made are lower grade or lower-tier TPG graded coins and it appears he's photoshopping the pics and selling them at higher grades. The reason he doesn't have a million negatives is that he refunds the money if the customer squawks so the buyer doesn't leave a negative. I strongly advise avoiding this seller at all costs!

It's those kind of sellers that just make you want to throw up. Hopefully the guy buying the coin knew what he was doing, or else a few years down the road that buyer's going to get a nasty shock when he/she tries to sell it.

Well, finally got a response back from him. My question to him was:
Did you use a scanner for your pics on this auction. The coin looks really dull and rough.
His response:
YES, DONE WITH SCANNER. THANKS. *^# (Name edited because I'm just a nice guy).

Thanks Jim. Greed is a powerful sin. Too bad so many take advantage of people's trust. It just ruins it for everybody. ebay is only an enabler of these people. They are like a confused and lost bartender who stumbles into an AA meeting with a fifth and a keg in tow.

Hey I do like your responces too! they always give me a little chuckle.. I agree I guess my conscience always get the better of me ...Thank the LORD )In My OWN opionion That is. I keep telling my wife that I need to sell on ebay. But I feel even though If I would represent a Coin as it is, With no fase info or anything, say a 1928m Lincoln Penny in fine. It you bid it up to 4 or 5 hundred dollars truly that is on you, w/ no falt of my own. But I would still feel guilty. So I dont sell.
