Really nice looking but the first thing I thought of was I wonder if the coins were looked at first or are they all UNSERCHED.

That's a nice thing to do if you're wondering what to do with those 80,000 spare pennies in your jar.,

Just curious...

If she made this yesterday, why use 2006 as the date and not 2010?

the only 1 she had left to use as a subject was an '06?

then again, I haven't seen the reverse... the shield might be hard to reproduce

The Mrs. was on facebook last night and came across this on the artist
facebook page. Nice night shot of the reverse.

What a missed opportunity:
Martich could have made it a 1909-S VDB.

It's awesome as it is, and she didn't take the easy way out
by doing just the obverse!

Yea it looks very cool, I wasn't sure if the
artist did the reverse until the Mrs. found the above picture.
We are heading up to go see it in the morning
I cant wait. The artist is a mother of two.
Just to clarify.

Nice...but it doesn't look like 80,000 coins to me. Looks more like 40,000-50,000

Went up to Grand Rapids today to check out the Art Prize competition
of course the first stop was the rather large 2006 Lincoln Cent.
All of the bright cents that make up the accents are 2010 Shield Cents.
Also all of the cents on the obverse of the coin are obverse up
and all of the coins on the reverse are reverse up.
My son is 6 foot tall which fives you some idea of the size of it.
Also the coin rotates on the pedestal it is mounted on.
A Very Cool Day.
