Quote: I'd buy it and I already have 3 of them. You could actually "buy" it elsewhere, but I do not have enough posts to put it up for auction here.

I like all of your thoughts, I don't see the coin "cleaned" but also don't see it 64/65.. more like MS 62... bag marks on the face drop in grading as the OBV testifies(unfortunatley) overall a 95% evaluation... this coin is 100% 5%which is the REV is fantastic... 100 percent MS65...my meaning is simple the OBV is graded at 95% and the rev is graded at 5% overall grades given...SO you all CONTEST this fact/idea......if you will;. but as seen... to many marks on the OBV....where the grade is given....IMHJO........ MS 62

I was merely stating that it was a nice coin and worthy of being owned.

aladinslamp, I agree with your understanding of morgan grading. If you look around, it can really be observed too. I have seen 65's with worse reverses than 63's. This is one coin I really wanna see go to a TPG. I know its not worth it but what it comes back with would add to the opinions here and maybe agree with a few.

Yaaa but that is numismedia. From my experience, numismedia is roughly 20% higher than what I normally see prices realized for in a show or online setting.

I like MS-62 for this one. A nice strong New Orleans strike!

The reverse is what attracted me to a 63-64. Yes there are some nicks on the face, I've seen worse on 63-64, but the date is real good except a possible nick on the 4. Very nice coin!!

The other thing that caught my eye was the mint mark. Does it look like a VAM 15R? Looks low and right of the flurish. I'm no expert though.

not sure of your description, but yes I think VAM 15 is POSSIBLE, yet the there are other features we can not see, such as VAM 21 possibilities with the over lapping reading....your getting there...

Can't see the 21, but I can say that I'm still having problems with the Van Allen and Mallis' deciphering their numerical labeling. Based on your comment, I now presume the number on the right of the page is used to describe the VAM and not incorporate the position, right or left.

The 84-O is a common date and eBayers always want a bargain. On the plus side, the 1897 S Cameo Prooflike Morgan just went for $36.99, and an 1889 S Morgan is currently at $44.00 with more than 2 hours to go.
