Rolls-Searchers!-Post-Your-Results-Here!! Who's idea was this? I went thru 5 rolls of n+q and 10 of pennies.Still not sure if nickle is sil.1941p.And I got a penny in a nickle roll and a nickle in a quarter roll. This is for a laugh and I'm gonna clean that nickle.

OK I don't know how common this is since I just started buying half dollar rolls this week. But out of the 3 rolls I got today I got 7 Bicentennial half out of them. other then that just a good start to my new collection of half dollars.

New to this forum, but not to roll hunting. Been doing it around 10 years, mainly halves. In that time I have found about 580 90%, close to 6000 40% (sold 5500 of them), 4 modern commemeratives, 2 1970D, close to 200 circulated proofs, about 20 silver bicentenials, 112 1974D DDO, 8 errors (including a 1965 straight clip) and several foreign, including an extremely worn 1867 english penny. Only thing of real interest I have found in the other denominations was a triple clip nickel. HH all.

Ok my best find yet... I went to the bank to cash a check and I deside to get some rolls. I got two rolls of half dallars and 1 roll of the new ND quarter. When I go to the car I notice that they both half dollar rolls had 1967 written on them. So I look at a few while still at the bank in my car and yes they were 1967 so I deside to go back in and ask the teller if she had any more half she said just 16.50 worth I said I would take them. On the 3rd roll it said 1965,1966. So when I got back to work I went throw the rolls and yes all the rolls were 40% silver rolls. had 1 half rolls of 1967, half a roll of 1965 and half a roll or 1966 and a few 1968. So I would say that today was a great find.

I did, I am not going to clean them. Acaully I had to go back to the bank after work and get a few more rolls. in one of the two roll I got a 1964 half dollar. I am down to 16 half dollar left for the whole set. I got all of them out of rolls except the 1987 since can only get them out of mint set and also the 2002-2006. It has been lot of fun. I have been collecting half for about a month now.

I called my local dealer when I got back to work to see what he is paying for 40%halfs he is giving 1.25 each so now I am trying to deside if I am going to sell them or not also my uncle who collect coin said he would match it if I wanted to sell. so I am not sure if I am going to put them away for a few week and see what silver does. or sell them. not bad spent 30 dollar and I can make 45 dollars.

I found a 2003 Counterfeit $2 in amongst 2 rolls from the bank. I took it back inside to show the teller. She looks out for 'strange' coins for me. She called me the next day and told me she had found another, which she gave me. She also gave me a:
  • 2000 South Carolina D Quarter
  • 1996 Quarter P
  • 2000 Virginia D
  • 2003 Illinois P
  • 1963 English Shilling, and
  • 2 2006 Australian rabbit ear errors

All these coins (apart from the rabbits) were passed off as Australian 10 cent pieces. The quarters are fractionally larger.

I had provided the teller with a few scanned photographs of commemorative coins worth watching out for. She's only too happy to search through her coins and give me a call. She particularly lets me know when new rolls come in. There is nothing quite like an uncirculated error coin.

What's a "mule"?

Maybe this is a really dumb question since I haven't gotten a reply, but what's a mule?

Thingee - a mule is a coin made from two dies that were not meant to go together. Do a search for 'mule' in the subject title. There are a number of threads that discuss them. An example of an Australian mule is the 2000 $1 that has a $1 Reverse and a 10 cent obverse. The 10 cent piece is fractionaly smaller that an $1 therefore the coin has two 'collars'. Others are not so obvious. The world is full of them and they can be very valuable.
