"Green" and "Lime" seals are distinct - apparently there is a subset of the 1934 FRNs that was just printed with a different, lime-er, ink for the seal.

e.g.

Sometimes people have notes professionally cleaned. They soak them to remove stains, grime, etc. One of the side effects is blurry or lightened printing. I could only imagine the size of the note could be affected as well.

Especially with notes prior to 1957, plate size was sometimes inconsistent to as much as 1/8"

The above is neither guess, or speculation....(it is fact).

Just to set your mind at rest about the possibility of your note being fake, I taped together the holders on a few notes so you could see that this size disparity is not at all uncommon.....(the notes were not moved between scans).

I could show you many, many more, but I think that you should get the picture by now.....(intaglio plates were not all the same size)...here is one last comparison just to be sure, but if you really want to see some size differences, check out some large size notes....(I have seen 1/4' differences).

Your note is genuine, and just the size that it is supposed to be (whatever that is)...

Well, thanks for saying so Billie, but I really am not so much into small size notes.....rather, I am a fan of the large size....

Heh, heh....you crack me up wheezy....

Keeping with the main thrust of the original post....Has everyone noticed that traditionally, all small size notes have dramatically smaller back plates than face plates (both horizontally and vertically)?

Why is that, do you suppose?

zeewool,

Beautiful pics of your notes.

In reference to your question, I find it ironic that as the US population's backsides have gotten larger, the back of our notes have gotten smaller.
