thanks Mitch!...i think there is a coin show coming up in my area this coming month, I'm thinking about bringing it to them and having them take a look at it to see if it is authentic.

I'm 99.9 percent sure it's authentic. It looks right and weighs right. Now the question is for you to figure out what you are going to do with such a great coin. I'm under the impression you wanted it graded? If you send it to ANACS you will get it graded for only the cost of the grading and then it will be authenticated by default. You are killing two birds with one stone. Do you collect coins? If so you have a great start to a Barber collection or a type collection.

mitch, honestly, I inherited all these coins and decided to collect once I got them. Its been 2 years since I've had them and since then decided I'm gonna collect dimes, only dimes of different types. So, id be willing to part with this coin if a buyer came along.

I'm not sure what it would cost you to have it graded by ANACS; maybe $30 or so total, including shipping? (maybe some recent ANACS submitters could give us an accurate cost). No one will cry "Chinese fake" if the coin is in an ANACS holder. It will be much easier to sell and the higher price you will likely realize should cover the grading cost.

wow fenton, thanks! I wish I could get my pics this big...i mean its crazy to me how this coin is about 120 years old, yet, in my coin you can still see the lines inside the stars on the obverse and most of the very fine detail is still there....my pics do not do it justice.

Yeah there is a chance yours is a mint state coin. Figure $300 in AU (most likely), $600 in MS-62 (possible), and $1200 in MS-64 (unlikely...)

Does anyone have relative rarity of these coins by mint mark placement? I don't know if collectors pay a premium but I think the far right S might be a bit more rare.

I can't find any rarity figures, but Coins Magazine gives a separate value for the far right mint mark placement and the value is actually less than the other 1893-S quarters. I don't know how accurate those values are though.

Well, good luck with collecting dimes. You should get a good chunk of change when you decide to sell this quarter and that will definitely give you a good amount to buy some high grade dimes with.
