I would probably keep the first one as it has better details. The second does appear to have fewer issues though, but I think the details would win out for me, unless the second one was problem free.

I am with David on this, I like the details of the first one.

I am also wondering what a good conservation with VERDI-CARE would do for it.

This is a really tough date. I'd send both of them in to ANACS or a TPG(or at least the one you dont want to keep) before selling. People will pay more knowing for sure that they are authentic. They both look VG-ish to me. I like the bottom one more. Even though the date may be weaker, it looks like part of the reason is the lighting and the fact that there isn't as much contrast between the color of the field and the date.

The scan on the second one is a little dark...
Oops, I missed this part and Johnny's comment made me go back to look for it.

Scans are notoriously bad for contrast on coins. That being said, your saying "it shows better in person" is probably an accurate statement and I exercise my right to change my mind.

The second coin I bought at a flee market in Canada about four years ago. I paid $225 Canadian for it. That was when the Can dollar was at about 82 cents. The first one I got about a month ago in Buffalo in a bin of old coins. bought about 5 coins that day and paid $4 for them.

I live in Canada so if I wanted to certify my coins with a us service how would I go about it?

In Canada most of our coins are certified in Toronto at ICCS would that be a good way to go or would buyers in the US prefer an American service?

I would take a guess that most would rather have a US company. I'll let other's chime in though.

You can go with ANACS. Most cost effective. I do like PCGS too. This will be certified as genuine/corroded. With ANACS, there are no clubs to join so you can directly submit them. It will cost you a little more in s/h obviously since you are in CA

It depends. The turn around times are not set in stone but rather, estimates. I have had coins take as little as two weeks, and as long as over a month.
