Nice! Old Ed was a looker! Or it's just the way his driver's license coin pic turned out?

Here's my QE1 shilling. I believe it's the Second Issue (1560 - 1561), MM cross crosslet.

Wow, real nice coin. I would love to get a Elizabeth I shilling. The half crowns and crowns are way out of my price range. The Edward I Irish piece was a pricey little item. Most older Irish and Scottish are especially in high grade. Actulally, any nicer hammered is getting pretty scarce. I searched for a while to find my Elizabeth I silver penny.

Beautiful! When I saw Quote: James 30 shillings my initial reaction was "Say what?". Had to run to my books to figure it out - seemed strange a denomination. But that's absolutely true, it is Scottish 30 shillings which was similar to "British" crown, 5 shillings. Thanks for sharing and making me learn a new thing!

A couple of year ago I purchased a copy of "Coins of Scotland and Ireland and the Islands" by Seaby. 1984. The pricing is off but it is a great reference book. You are certainly right svslav that 30 Shilling is sweeeeeeet!

I definitely need to broaden my library on Brit. Isles coins - considering this being my main interest. I think the Empire and the Commonwealth have pretty good representation in my collection, now I'd like to go deeper in the Isles' ages. At the moment I don't have anything Scottish.

Hi there I won this penny on ebay, it has no date. Did I do ok or have I wasted my beer money? King George III 1760-1820?

With such a handsome bloke how could this be a waste?! The date (before it got rubbed off) was right under the king's bust. This type was minted only two years, 1806 and 07.

It's a nice bust... beer can be found everywhere but a nice bust can't. Good coin I think.
