I'm glad I save them when I come across them. I have quite a few rolls of both nickels and dimes from 2009

I would be up to my neck in 2010 Dimes if I kept them all! No problem with those getting around here! I found the 2009 Nickel in change from the vending machine at work. I'm pretty sure that I got strange looks when I exclaimed "YES!" when I saw it!

Found "3" 09' dimes 2xd, 1xp, and"3" 09' nickels 3xd here in Missouri. Still no 09'p nickels in circulation and I do some roll searching. Quite a few 09' cents and quarters.

I don't much keep up with the newer nickel circulation numbers so I was not aware that the 2009 zombies were rarish until a week or so ago when reading a topic. So this morning while counting a pile of nickels I picked up the first zombie I saw and it was a 2009D lol. Ended up with 2 of them after looking through the pile.
I think the P will be the hard one for me to find since every coin around here (central California) is naturally a D.

I tell you what, I've been searching Nickels like a crazy man for some time now (6 months or so), trying to secure both P and D 2009 Jeffersons. At first, I was finding a fair amount of D's, and a couple P's even (which is rare in Kansas anyway).... BUT..... THEY HAVE C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E.L.Y DRIED UP AROUND HERE !I've been searching "bank wrapped"......"Customoer wrapped"....."Fed. Resv./String & Sons".....everything ! And I can find NOTHING now ! I think that the search for these '09 Jeffersons has become MORE popular than "Half searching for Silver". A roll of the P's is going for what $125.00 or so on ebay ? For a $2.00 roll.....that's pretty darn good ! This will be the future '50 D I'm assuming... This 2009 P Jefferson is already worth much more than a Silver War Nickel ! .... ..... All you need to do is give "roll searchers" a reason and a goal, and that O.C.D. kicks into TRIPLE OVERDRIVE ! (And now it's a "nation-wide" thing....) .... The secret is out.....folks know.....the search is hard.... ....

I don't search dimes, my boy does. (He has the eyes.) He's got several rolls of '09 P&D. I have 4 '09D rolls and a little over a roll of the Ps. I've found the box finds are nicer than most anything on the bay, as I've bought several and returned them all. \It ticks people off when you tell them so.

Quote: Why is 2009 such a rare year? Economic downturn at the end of 2008 resulted in a huge number of people depositing their spare change jars for cash in order to make ends meet. This gave the Fed a HUGE glut of excess inventory so they greatly reduced their orders for coins from the mint becaus they didn't need them. This meant much lower than normal mintages. But are the coins rare? Hardly. 39 million coins snapped up and squirreled away in hoards in Unc condition, and there are maybe 2 million serious or semi serious collectors in the country. As I keep pointing out, the last nickel with a mintage that low was the 1959 with 30 million and it wasn't subjected to the rabid hoarding the 2009's were. What does a roll of 1959 BU nickels sell for fifty years later? About $4. What would it have to sell for to have just kept up with inflation? $9 (assuming a 3% inflation rate) And there are a LOT more Unc 2009 nickels.

The reason all 2009 coins are so rare is this: Quote: I'm glad I save them when I come across them. I have quite a few rolls of both nickels and dimes from 2009
For some reason the now famous 2009 Lincoln Cents started a boom on stockpiling rolls of everything. At coin shows I now see many dealers with massive amounts of rolls of 2009 coins. They too are jumping on the band wagon of rolls. For some reason people have switched from coin collecting to roll collecting. I suppose next will be by weight so a collection will be something like I collect 100 pound bags of Nickels or something like that.

A few 2009D dimes in New Mexico, no nickles yet.
A dealer here said the mint was still holding most of the rolls. (can anyone confirm?)
I don't know, but I wouldn't want to get stuck with a 125.00 roll if they are and let out sometime soon.
