A good resource would be a professional curator at the State Museum (don't know where you live, but surely, every state has a state museum)... these folks (often) have gone to college to learn how to solve mysteries exactly like the question you pose. I am thinking some kind of Xray technique. The FBI knows how to read serial numbers even after they have been ground off by a bad guy. I saw that once on CSI.

And I meant to add... re. state curator... sometimes the cost of them running in through the University's scanner ... is done as a "class exercise". free. Curators LOVE to talk about what they do.

It's definitely a 12 whose tail has been stepped on, but C. D. Daughtrey has the best solution -- turn it in to someone else's problem.

Dunno, but I could send you one of each so you could toss that in the penny cup at the store and make someone else guess...

I got it covered coppercoins. You get full credit for the idea though. Thanks for that btw.

He bought a few coins from me last week and I'm mailing them out on Monday or Tuesday. I've already included one of each in the package.

AMEN to that! HoosierDaddy

Credit where credit's due though. You folks thought up the offer before I did. I'm simply the delivery-guy.

It is not anymore. It is very easy for the staff to accidentally check that box when editing or moving a topic. For the record, it was not me.

I'm going to agree with 1912 (badly abused!)

Funny how much time we INFECTED collectors can spend on something so totally worthless. I know, I've done it too. At best the coin is a common wheat at that grade - a cull worth about 3 cents.

But hey...I've spent HOURS on coins that had a maximum value of $1 no matter which way I looked at it.

By far one of the truest and scarriest statements here.
