Thanks for all the responses, I just spent the past 10 minutes trying to get a picture on my phone that's close enough to see something and I can't get anything in focus, so all I can do until I find our camera (we moved recently, havent found all of our own things yet)is describe it... it's definately 1999 P, clear as could be, it looks like it may have spent some time in a case, the edges have no marks in them.
any ideas on where I could find a scale capable of getting an accurate weight?

btw one other thought, the bank is in a bad area, counterfeit bills do show up from time to time... I havent ruled out that someone would be making fake quarters... it looks legit to me, but then I cant figure out why it looks like this and has a P mintmark

I have come across 2 counterfeit quarters, both State Quarters and Phili mint.... A friend of mine works at the local price chopper and these were pull from the cash register.... I don't remember the weight, but I think they were a little lighter than they were suppose to be..... I'm not saying this is what you have, but I've seen them Bill

I agree with Merc Crazy... it was probably plated just like the gold plated State Quarter sets they sell too.

I would put my money on a coin from a plated set like you see on the HSN.

It's almost definitely not white gold, they would have to plate in gold, then rubidium. (I think that's the metal).

Rhodium is the metal mixed with gold to produce white gold.

Not according to the article on Wikipedia. Of course, we know how accurate Wikipedia can be at times.
