Blanks will have marks and minor dings until they are struck. The striking removes the most minor defects as the metal flows to fill the voids (design) in the die. Also, coming from a roll of business strikes the coins themselves are dinged because they are dumped into large bins until they are rolled.

I have a feeling a few more might pop up across the country. I can't see how I could have the only ones out of the millions of quarters that were minted. Non-collectors may just be tossing these thinking they are slugs. Quote:

I thought about making a coin exchange machine business/franchise like coin star.
I dream about sorting the coins and find something valuable. I've been a dreamer all my life, that is what I am doing for living too. I am an Architect/Designer that dream about making something and doing it! See my motto: It started in a dream. My ideas always coming in a dream while I am sleeping. But not all of them works, like this coin exchange idea:)

I've seriously explored the idea on a massive scale of doing a competing franchise to coinstar (1000-2000 units across the country). Essentially without the US market the numbers for Canada don't add up. Coinstar with their US presence can afford to expand into Canada with economy of scale, but it doesn't work the other way around. Too much geography and far too few people. One of the key failure points are that there are too few competing armoured car services that have coin management (sorting, wrapping srevices) to pick up and reload the machines with bags and the miles they have to travel ensure the prices are quite high. Small scale operations of four or five units might do OK where a single individual can do self service but then the available brands of coin machines are limited in numbers and capabilities. I had big backing too, but decided to can it after the analysis and RFQ's were answered.
If they dump the one cent coin I'll revisit this. Might tip the scale back to sanity.

Sweet job -ikandiggit- Getting payed to do that!  wish it were me  -samueltan- I can relate as I am also a dreamer/would be inventor and does affect my sleep often because it's always on!  ---I wish I could get paid for it! ---Maybe still one day! I envy you!
