Now, that is a good retort, bva!! Revenge is a dish best served cold, or in change, LOL.

Better yet, tell them " Here's the change I didn't have at the time you hit me with an overdraft fee"

I have to agree with bva.

My pickup banks love me but the dump banks are either nonchalant or annoyed. It mostly has to do with timing--if I'm at any given bank more frequent than once every two weeks I get "the look". As such I'm trying to either scale back or allow myself a larger operating budget where I'm able to maybe keep 2 or 3 boxes in "retention" at my house before I return them. Who knows...maybe I'll just widen the search area.

Everytime I go to the bank and ask to buy a $25 box of cents, the teller goes into freeze mode and confusion takes over. Every bank, every teller, every time. And then here comes that question, "Do you mean pennies?" Uhhh........yes.

i hate when they ask what it is for. I hit up several banks but I just now have one I am comfortable with. she gave me a box and said "are you a roll searcher too". I said yes and asked if a lot of people did it. she said tons of people do it and it doesn't annoy them. she was very nice, I go to this bank all the time now. they are awesome and don't give me looks.

I took in $200 worth of cents yesterday morning because my bank ships to the Fed on Thursdays. While I was dumping, the machine filled up. The teller brought out a cart to empty the machine and while she was doing it, said " We have 4 more ($50) bags in the back, would you like them ? " They even let me borrow their cart to take em out to my car. My method was to be up front with them from the start, get to know the tellers, and a box of chocolates now and then doesn't hurt either.I'm always greeted with a smile and most times they check the vault as soon as they see me.

Maineman750, seems as if everyone who gets boxes are embarrassed and try to hide what they are doing and don't like weird looks. I was the same. I am just now starting to change though. it feels a lot nicer being up front, and the tellers really don't care. they see los of other people doing it too. like you, I found out that being up front is best. I have a bank that grabs a box of cents when they see me walk in.

At first I got funny looks but now they are used to me. Couple call me the coin guy. Couple of banks has told me they have other roll searchers. I try to avoid them except for dumps.

Maineman, did you get all 4 $50 bags and if so any nice finds? When you finish searching the 20,000 cents give us an update.

After staying up all night reading all the forums on the pennies I just couldn't resist. As soon as I got off I headed to the bank and got 2) $25 boxes. the teller asked if I owned my own buisness. When I told her no I was looking for older pennies she just said well thats a first. I've been working on them since 3pm today.
I've all ready found a few wheats and an IHC. I would like to thank y'all for getting me addicted!

roll hunters are one of the main reasons so many banks are starting to impose all kinds of stuff about bulk coins. By me most banks will only take bulk coins of any kind if you have an account. They then send them out for counting. There is a fee for that. The amount is entered into your account. If no account, your sent a check and there is a fee for that too. All due to roll hunters.

One time, I was turning in a box of pennies and a lady asked me if I was pranking the bank.
