Thanks! I think they sell medals and stuff like that on ebay. However they wont allow people to sell these ones with the nazi symbol on them. I was going to try and list it to see what kind of response I got...They took the listing down within 12 hours. I had a few offers for all of them. The highest being $260.00 CAD...it got a tonne of attention though. Within those 12 hours, I had 6 questions about them including the "buy it now" option because people wanted them before ebay removed it. I couldnt put a price on them because I just dont know their value...so I said no and to bid away.

It's neato that there was so much interest in them in such a short period of time.

Thats wierd.
How come that there is always a heap of swastica coins and stamps on ebay.
They must think that the symbol on a medal is verry offesive but if it is on a stamp or coin it is respectable.
There are some wierd chooks running ebay

Incorrect

It all depends on your country you are selling from and shipping to. Germany, France, Austria and I think Italy aren't allowed to have them online for sale but you can totally find them on ebay from sellers in the US all the time.

I have no idea. I tried selling them (Im from Canada) and they removed it and said ebay doesn't support these items and if I try to relist it my account will be suspended...so I dunno. I spoke to their live chat and asked if I covered the nazi symbols using photoshop would they let me re-list it. They said no.

But I did end up selling them off of ebay for $375 USD so I'm okay with that.

Actually I could be wrong on this. They might have changed their rules recently as I can't find a single auction with a swastika except for stamps and coins.

Still though for even those there are restrictions concerning which countries they can be shipped to legally.

Yes I did sell them all for that. There were 6 people interested via email and they were all bidding on it. 3 dropped out at $200 but the other three stayed up until the end. The last two dropped out when the final guy offered $375. I know that 1939 Bars to the Iron Crosses 1st Class can go anywhere from $190-$1000 depending on what kind it is. So the people bidding asked for up close photos of the back of the medals...so I will assume my eagle wasnt the really rare and expensive one. A couple of the other medals were $30-$60 retail (ie the merit medal)

A german fellow offered me $425 but I said no because it would have cost me more to send it to him.

France and some other countries do not allow importation of Nazi memorabilia. When ebay wanted to expand ebay.com, the French gubmint griped about those items. Instead of manning up and telling France to deal with their own customs problem, ebay agreed to not allow most Nazi memorabilia on any ebay site. So even tho it's perfectly legal to trade such items in the US, you can't do it on ebay.

All such material is highly collectable. A friend of mine had a watch that was given to Goering (?) as a Christmas present by Hitler. The idiots at Sotheby's and Christy's turned it down as not likely to meet their $5,000 lot minimum. They auctioned it through a Yurrupeen dealer who has sold like 7 of the 10 most valuable watches in the world, for a little under a half million USD.

Interestingly enuf, the listing made no mention of Hitler or anyone else, but it showed the watch (except for the engraving) and traced it to the manufacturer, who confirmed that they originally sold it to the jeweler Hitler bought most stuff from. That wasn't mentioned, but people spending that much money already know that kind of background. I got to see the engraving pix that weren't in the listing.
Rest in Peace

There are other auction sites for stuff like this, guns, etc. I was thinking ebanned was one, but they appear to be mainly pr0n, I didn't investigate. I'm sure a google search can find you an outlet.

I did not know ebay restricted Nazi memorabilia; seems odd you can buy a bottle of whiskey to collect the bottle, no questions asked, they assume you're old enough I guess, but you can't buy an historical token from a world-wide conflict that ended 65 years ago...

Yeah I think I looked through that link before. When I was doing research I learned a tonne of stuff so I guess it was neat. The mothers cross was only bronze so it doesn't make it overly valuable plus some of enamel was cracking. The 1939 2nd Class Iron Cross didnt have the pin on the back etc etc plus I found a makers mark on the ribbon ring. After looking it up the most that type of medal would go for is $100.00. The eagle pin retail is $200.00 The other 3 retail is $30-75. So you add it all up and it makes sense why the bidders were only willing to go so far. Retail they are probably worth $400-$500 IMO.

Yes, ebay does apply its own, sometimes quite strange rules. Guess they do it to make life easier for themselves. :) For example, in Germany it is legal to sell/offer/buy historic nazi memorabilia. Modern stuff with swastikas etc., however, is usually considered to be anticonstitutional propaganda. But when a coin dealer from here wants to sell Nazi Germany coins, the photos he takes for ebay.com will usually have the swastika covered due to ebay's pretty strict rules. Local platforms like ma-shops.de will of course not require that. (A few dealers will still cover the swastika at ma-shops because they use the same images at various sites.)

As for "65 years ago", well, how much is that compared to what the nazi regime did? Is there a "cut-off" date? I don't think so. FWIW, every time I enter the US (or these days fill out an ESTA authorization form), I need to check the Yes or No box next to the question whether "between 1933 and 1945 were you involved in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?" Sixty-five does not actually mean much ...
