Nice coin. My guess would be a strong EF, maybe AU. I'm a little concerned about the wear pattern and the fine vertical scratches. Would be nice to see in hand and under a loop.

I prefer using my scanner as it is so much easier to use.

Is it just the lighting, or am I seeing some really cool die clashes in front of the King's crown and forehead?

I know this is going to sound weird and kind of a double standard....if it was going in my collection I would give it a VF due to the wear...it is close enough that if someone who owned it wanted a grade I would say AU

I'd replace my 29 quarter... with it. I place in the
AU category.

Based on the first pics you posted I was going with EF-45. But with the last picture I'm upping my grade to AU-55 cleaned.

ICCS EF40 cleaned / pitted
DBM.. there is a lot of wear in those details.. after cleaning it was slightly polished...to try and hide the wear..
just a humble chick's opinion..
I would not want to buy it for my collection.....
would rather buy a nice bottle of Merlot and curl up reading Coin News...
