This article lists what the author believes are the books that should be in your library if you are a large cent collector: http://www.eacs.org/lcctext.htmNot sure if anything new has come out since, but this list seems to be a good start.

Hey Hambone, nice! Yeah, I'm sort of working on early large cents. I don't have much past 1800, and what I have isn't all that nice, but I'm working on those holes.
I have a couple of dupes I've been thinking about selling on if you're interested. I simply love them! Pretty neat coins. =)

Moe - that's incredible! Large cents and bust halfs are my favorites.

Yeah, large cents are pretty cool; especially the draped bust ones.
delaner: If you could hold on to em for a few weeks, I'll have a little money to spend;)

Hambone, Not sure what your budget is but I have a few on my ecrater site. Also, check out Tom Reynolds website. He has some of the finest Large Cents and Half Cents I have ever seen. http://www.earlycoppers.com/

Oh my gosh! Tom's coins are sooo far out of my price range! To tell the truth, I have never seen so many large cents of that quality in one place.
My price range/allowance is like $40-$50 a month. I need to get a job now that I'm old enough.

You have your whole life ahead of you to complete this set :-) I think it's pretty cool to see someone your age into old copper!

It depends on what condition you insist on. I have three chain cents and the most I have paid for one so far is $1,000. (saw a dateless S-3 at EAC a year ago for $700.) I just need the S-1 Ameri variety and I know where I can get one for about $2,000. My Wreath was a real bargain. I picked it up back in 1989 at a coin auction where everyone was focusing on all the bulk silver available. This coin is a pretty much problem free G-4 and no one else had any interest in it. Like I said all they cared about was the silver. I picked it up for $150. Low grade ugly Wreaths can still be had from time to time for under $1,000. Cheapest one I ever bought was a dateless Pr-1 S-11c that cost me $80 (Sorry I sold that one after I bought the G-4.)
Probably the cheapest 93 cap though will probably run $4,000 or more even for a very low grade ugly coin.
