I just erased 20 min of writing because of 1893s wonderful way of calling this Absolute Nonsense! I'll be honest and say this kinda angers me! But it has some truth to it. Sure its nonsense to try and recover your money after a year, but being he was so willing to do so, Only after a confusing process in how you can contact him. I'm sure most people who work up the nerve to contact this seller give up because its set up to deter people, The way he has it set up, you must enter a recent item number or click on a tab that says something along the lines of, This has nothing to do with any transaction. I sat wondering for a moment ? Then I chose to click on the other reason not transaction related, and wrote I bought this on so and so, my item number didn't work. It has been a year but I just noticed it was fake. I don't think the fact that its common matters much. I bought what I could afford! Paid more because of the high grade, A high grade anything is appealing, And like BiggFredd wrote, I felt bad contacting him about the lack of appeal the replacement had, and yes I still gave him 100 percent feed back. Why because I didn't want to be the guy who ruins a high feedback. He's a good sales man and has you believe its his employees that must of made the mistake. He gave me that personal attention, with a great speech that won me over. I cant make an excuse for my lack of experience. So when It was nothing like the coin I bid on, I was just happy to get a real coin. Or so I thought. How you can call this complete nonsense is beyond me! Maybe you haven't bought a fake coin in 40 years but I'm sure your 40 years has left you a little desensitized.

I just saw this message from the seller, Dear amassey08873,
yes, I can replace the coin with another in the same grade. I will see what I have in stock when I get the one from you and send you a similar coin of the same value. lol If he sends me a coin of the same value wouldn't he be sending me another fake. I'm not going to fall for a third, sucks loosing that little extra, but at least I'm able to get my investment back. Or would it be a good experiment to test the water yet a third time and post the results?

Coin collecting is a life long experience. Many times you will find that you have purchased a coin that has been overgraded, overpriced, etc. It has happened to me many times and I've taken my lumps. My point to you was to find reputable and preferably local sellers to deal with. Then you shouldn't have to weigh, measure, and the like to your purchases. I would think collecting would be a lot less stressful for you that way. There really are not that many steal of a deals out there, with the exception if you are lucky.. You generaly have to pay for the coin you want. Good luck!

In my post above I meant to say that "coin collecting is a lifetime learning experience".

This coin is almost certainly genuine since it weighs in at 27 grams and has accurate details, strike, and color.
There is perhaps a tiny chance someone struck a perfect fake in silver but, since this is a common date, why would they bother?

Quote: am a novice, and I cant tell from real, what does the beginner need to watch out for Obvious clues are weight and dimension. If you know the metal in the coin, test to see if it's magentic, or vice-versa. Super bargain price? Ask yourself why? Overgraded, stolen and fake are the three common answers, and you want to avoid all three. As you look at more coins, you'll see what surfaces and design details should look like.

Yes, it would, but three's the charm. Getting three fakes should be enuf to get ebay and USPS to start listening.

Refund may be pushing it, especially after this long, unless he offered to refund (my understanding is he's offered to replace).

The "too heavy, too small diameter" combination is quite strange.

Update! What a ***keep it family friendy***I sent the coin back about a month ago, he tries smooth talking me for 2 weeks. And after I sent a few, "well you have the coin wheres my money", He finally swears to God he sent the payment on Aug 28th. And to stop bothering him, its Pay Pals problem now. I apologized and tried emailing Pay Pal, None of the three emails I sent ever got a response other then an automated reply. Wanting to find out if he's lying. I finally called pay pal yesterday, he never sent the money! What a Con man! The Rep said we can send a request for the amount, I'm happy to say he did finally send the money today! So it took about a month, but at least I got my my investment. Then I have a message from him today saying I sent the payment, check your email address with pay pal I don't think its right. (Well it must be if you were able to send the money right!) Glad its over, next time I think I'll keep the fake in the event something like this happens again. The only reason I did get my money back is I didn't hound him, but I stayed intouch. I can only imagine how many people he does this to, that just give up.
