I have never witnessed so much love and hate towards a series.

Another reason Mint makes a gambling on Dragon coins minage might be that Mint promote the coins in China. It is said that 30% of coins will be sold in China district. The Beijing Coin show will be conducted in early November, I am sure are C Mint is sparing no efforts to sell these dragons.

If 30% are sold in China, that still leaves over 34,000 for us - which is still a lot.
Besides, they only need to buy 1 and make their own replicas.

To canadian_coins:
thanks for the info, this makes the 1997 musical ride bullion rarer than proof GML:) only those 99999 and 2004 GML has lower mintage than it

SilverBug,
Thanks. Remember that mintage may not always translate into higher demand/prices. I Just sold a 25 cent 20x of what I paid only 4 years ago (Nuthatch) - and among the series it is not even the rarest.

canadian_coins: I spent 1,660 on that coin when gold was around 1600. good for you on that 25c coin, I rarely saw a RCM coin can gain so much. recently I'm collecting 50c golden flower, I bouhgt them all under 30, the cheapest one is 20, half of the issue price, which makes me wonder why I should buy coins from RCM:)

Very good looking. But too many were minted.

i expect next year addition will be low, because the dragon one will be a flop. because of mintage...but never know they might just mint to demand and just stop producing the dragon, especially if silver tanks below 20$....still a mighty nice looking coin...

Looks like the Lotus has the early lead. The Lotus just hit the "Last Chance" page. Didn't think they would sell out of these.

Okay, so I asked this question under the Precious Metal Forum page but do you guys think the Chinese Flower coins would be a better option then the Canadian lotus? They are both beautiful coins, whats ya'll opinion?

The Canadian Lotus for sure. There is no writing on the reverse, which allows the coin to be all about the artwork. And the artwork is up there with the best the Mint has done.
