"None of them are certified, but I have taken them to 3 different coin shops in the area and they told me that I should get the penny certified because it is the real deal, but I just dont have the time for that."
So let me get this straight, you have a $100,000 coin, but you don't have time to get it certified. $100,000 is what I make in about two years. I don't know how much you make but if you don't have the time to certify a 100 grand coin so you can sell it for market value I am not sure what to tell you. Really just step back for a moment and think about how that sounds to the rest of us.

To add to what Allranger said, usually the way you submit a coin for grading is to do it through a coin shop. Not sure why they didn't offer to help you with it. By the way, if the guys at the coin shop are saying it is real, have them put their money where their mouth is and see what kind of offer they will make you BEFORE getting that penny slabbed.
Edit: Shoot! Didn't realize this was a two month old thread that has risen from the dead.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the OP has and will read none of these later comments, we're all just talking to ourselves. That's allright though, no one listens to me except me anyway.

Two month old thread? The OP would most likely have the 250 posts by now. Should've stuck around...

If I had a nickel for every person who told me they had a Superman #1, Am Fant #15, Mantle Rookie, svdb, 43 copper cent, $5 Columbian, etc, my retirement nest egg would be an ostrich instead of a hummingbird.

I am also facing this dilemma of wanting to get into the selling as well as buying but can't yet for fear of being ripped off

One good thing, I now know I need to make 250 posts so I can at least get everyone to have a look over my collection and teach me what to do before I can sell everything. So, I will be posting lots! Just a heads up!

Quote: So, I will be posting lots! Just a heads up! Posting four replies in a row is not the way to do it. What makes it worse is that you did it in a thread that was dormant for almost six years. Remember, the rule is 250 quality posts. Take a deep breath and take your time. We are not going anywhere.

And to think, a previous poster in this thread expressed regret for having raised it after two months....
