Thanks to all! I will try to get some pics up shortly. @conder101...Tolerance on the Franklin half was +/- .259 grams. were would find such info or is it just experience. Thanks for all the help and welcomes.

This was the worst coin by weight, 12.27g! Hope the picture quality is ok. Thanks again to all, the help is much appreciated.

I would say you have a nice looking and real Franklin half. The weight is within tolerances.

I do not know of any online source but tolerances for all US denominations are listed in the Official Price Guide to Mint Errors 7th Ed. by Alan Herbert.

This 1962 Franklin looks like a proof to me. My first thought was the writing on the bell was too weak. Then I looked at my proof Franklins and the writing was weak on those also. It looks real to me.

If you keep an eye out you can find older copies for around $5, and Coin World just published a new edition for $18. It is a great reference and I keep it close at hand. I have all of the editions except the latest one and I plan on picking one up. (On the other hand I'm not real thrilled with the 2000 edition.)
