You do have to be careful because if you are too vague you will give them no choice but to open it. Numismatic collectible or numismatic materials seems to work like a charm.

I've put Hobby Supplies down. But now that I think about it maybe it's a little too vague.

Oh Duh!! I just sent a package off to the US. Guess what I put on the form. Yep, you got it. COINS!!! What a drip? Sheesh, I hope they get there OK. There's a fair few of them.
Rest in Peace

I usually put Numismatic Items on the form when I mail coins to Australia. I would guess many postal workers don't know what that means.

All packages I have sent to Australia did reach their destination, although some were opened and inspected, and in one case a roll of coins turned up missing.

I put on the form..."Part set of Australian medalions"

I figure no one would want just a "part set", sounds so incomplete, so worthless, and overseas mailmen would have little interest in Australian medalions.

Does the form travel with the package? I assumed it was retained by the PO.

Yes, Nancy, the green form gets stuck on to the package and goes all the way to the receiver.

I have used Metal Die Castings or Stampings when mailing back and forth to Canada. Nothing seemingly related to coins or our hobby, but the truth as well.

I use "collectable", numismatic supplies (this is the best) or hobby supplies. I decided, in my own mind, "collectables" could attract attention. I might mention, after knocking on wood, I have not lost a package since I started collecting world wide in 2002 but will add that GERMANY OPENS all packages coming in for customs tax purposes regardless of what you may have on the customs label!

The Truth always works for me and a lie give them the reason to do or act on your mailed Item. sender and person that will receive it can both be in hot water with a lie no mater how small.
That why I say truth!

I sent a coin to Finland earlier this month. The package included a note pad so on the customs label I put, "Note pad and Medal" It got there no problem.
