Tykimeister menioned the bugs bunny franklin. well again that gets me to looking things up. little tid bits of info for young collectors. the 1955p franklin has the bugs bunny variety. some say it was a die clash and others say it was the result of the striking of two dies without a planchet. or some say just Die Deterioration. " These are the same thing, a die clash is from the dies coming together without a coin in between. I never heard the Die Deterioration story before. |

I am not even sure, I have had that thing for quite awhile and to tell you the truth I don't even know where I got it from. But I do not think they are to awful expensive, some dates may be more expensive that others but I am not a Franklin collector so I am not sure about that

yeah but what sounds better, a Buggs Bunny variety or a Dracula Variety. With Buggs Bunny you even have the loony toons collectors that may even buy a coin just to say they have a Buggs Bunny Variety of a coin even if they do not collect coins. And I know of atleast one little girl that got interested in coins because of this Buggs Bunny coin just because she knew who Buggs Bunny was, she didn't know who Benjamin Franklin was (at age 3) but she sure as heck knew who Buggs was

Wanted to resurect this thread to show this '59 Bugs I picked up for $18. I would love to hear some opinions about the massive die clashes(I think) on this coin. Oh..it was bought as a MS-65 FBL, not sure if it makes that but for the price I figured I could'nt go wrong.   / bugs+clash left of date / clash through unum / big clash from top of bell past eagle there are a couple more in Bens hair...weird. |
