I got this in one of my trips to the provinces. I don't know if it is a genuine coin, a token, or medal. It weighs 26.7gms, 38ml in diameter and reeded. There is no mint mark but must be an American because of the Liberty, eagle and American flag. Can anybody please identify this.
Thanks

junjie

Crude but somehow fascinating.
I'll guess it was an early Chinese knockoff.

I have often contemplated starting a collection of fakes, if anything for the conversation it could generate!

Wags posted about one of these, in this recent thread.

Hello Sap. Now what do we have here? DL20k from Poland, Wags in China, and me in the Philippines with a coin like this. Why it is coming out in different parts of the globe? I bought the coin for P100.00 or roughly around $2.25. Yes jbuck this will go to my "Fools Coin" collection.

Since the obverse is copied from the Morgan dollars, I wonder where the reverse is taken from. A medal?

Good choice! I wonder if some day these classic fakes will appreciate in value on their own? If anything, the story behind it might give you some sentimental value down the road.

Myself, neat or not, interesting or not, I don't want to "support the counterfeit industry" game......If nobody buys them.......they may disappear or be greatly reduced......if they're a "hot commodity" then it will grow and grow and grow and grow !.....
So, I don't want to "willingly" purchase this stuff !......
