Last few weeks I decided to buy a few Morgan dollars, being Canadian I know virtually nothing about them Found a couple on ebay turned out they were only vf-ef coins so I educated myself a little and continued my hunt and found these BU coins. They are all common years and mostly Philadelphia but the price was right.

Need to find a date set album for them though

My first Morgans, and first post in the US side of the Forums...

These came out of a storage unit I bought. I will keep the Morgan dollar and probably sell the American mint coin locally.

Couple of toned 1878's. I probably paid too much.

another AOWH
my 6th this year. I am now strictly trying for a modified version of my own type set in AOWH as my only collecting goal for the rest of my forties. 6.2 more years to go.

I went to Stone Mountain when I was a kid back around 1960 I think. My uncle thought it was the greatest monument since the Washington monument. He was a son of the CSA as am I. A beautiful monument to the most lost of causes. Stonewall and Lee together in life and death perhaps at least on a coin.

I'd love to see it. It's a great coin and regardless of today's overly sensitive crowd, I think that it commemorates an intricate piece of our country's history.

It commemorates a part of our past that is being airbrushed out of history. "Well Meaning" people even intend to dig up the graves of Bedford Forrest and his wife and move their bones to a private graveyard. His statue has already been removed from the capital of S. Carolina I believe. I don't believe in the "Lost Cause" and many of my ancestors died in the civil war. It was an awful cause to preserve slavery. However, the first African slaves came to American in 1619, and slaves built the Whitehouse. Most of our youth know zero of their own history. They don't even remember the Vietnam War. The commemorative coins are a small way for us to appreciate our actual history.
It has not always been pretty. Wild Native Americans were all on reservations by the time the Buffalo nickle was produced. Some would call that hypocrisy of the highest order yet I love the coins.
