There is something about this coin that makes me suspicious, but I can't seem to put my finger on why. Just something about the fabric of the coin I think. I have scoured the Fake's pages and have not found a match for this coin. Anyone care to opine about this coin's authenticity?

It doesn't look right to me either. The fabric, strike and overall appearance looks fake.

Something about the wiry legends and high-points on the bust...is that normal? I can't make the call.

OK, so I thought I'd post an authentic Diocletian next to this one to see what everyone thinks. I just don't know on this one.

Perhaps it's just the photograph, but don't the legends look a bit...weak?

Has that cheaply made look to it. Looks fake to me. But, who knows. It might surprise us and end up being real.

Valuable if real - I too cant find any fake matches.

Maybe poor pictures are clouding our judgement - the reverse bothers me more than the obverse, I think

Its a case of needing to trust the seller. If they are 'established bricks and mortar lifetime guaranteers' then go for it, its probably real and if its not you get your money back. If they are an ebay 'my dads coin collection hidden bidder identities' type then its fake.

I find, in cases like this its best to keep away - If you have doubts now then you will probably always have doubts and that will spoil your enjoyment of the coin - whatever price you get it for.

The same seller on ebay has several "rare" coins you hardly ever see for sale on ebay such as this one. The seller you identified bobbyhelmet a month or so ago, coin pouch, had several of the same type for cheap prices. Its the same with this seller. I believe its fake along with others he is selling, but I can't find any matches on the fake's list. Take a look at this coin:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/11076031465...t_562wt_1396

Looks good, right? But again, something's wrong.

I'm watching two of this sellers coins atm! - His bronzes look ok but I'm not too sure about the silvers.

I think I'm suspicious of anything this seller has for sale. That sure looks like a die match to me, which in and of itself is nothing bad. But with these other coins, I'm not so sure.

His silvers are fakes - just found another match

His bronzes I'm not sure - would take a lot more time to confirm, most I would say are OK

I guess your gut instinct was right about the Diocletion - good call

I guess he thinks by mixing up 'good' and 'bad' it makes them harder to spot, he'd be right

Are you planning to upload these to FAC fake reports?

Could I possibly use any more emoticons

"When in doubt, stay away" is what I say. And when you uncover evidence that show a coin is fake, well, stay far away.

Although, I don't know a lot about ancient coins right now. Recently I've been looking at a lot of ancient and Roman coins. I've also looked at several replica marked coins. The luster looks off in those fakes and the metal doesn't look aged and I think the color is off. The wear also kind of looks synthetic. That's my opinion and of course I could be wrong.

If you found matches, I will need those to report. I posted this on FAC but so far not one response.

You could prob get 25 (min needed for FAC$s per month) from this seller alone - would give you a nice discount next time you order from them.

Let me know if your not going to upload them all and I might have a go - Think I have about 25 this month already.

Edited for link problems.
