Does anyone use the deluxe proof set storage boxes? They are heavy cardboard, velvet-lined, with dividers to hold ten 1- or 2-lens proof sets.

I purchased one from the mint: $13.95
11-COIN PROOF COLLECTOR'S BOX(20 LENSES)

I'm pretty happy with it and ordered a second, but it has been back-ordered for two months now. I found an alternative from Whitman,

Whitman Deluxe Proof Set Storage Boxes: $8.25

I was wondering if anyone has experience with this product. I assume it holds ten, not twenty, lenses, but I can't find confirmation of this.

Aside from comments about the quality of the Whitman box, I would like to hear how others store and/or display their proof sets.

Since I don't collect proof sets, I don't have any experience with these. Hopefully, someone will respond soon.

I have never seen the Whitman box in person but I do use the standard proof and mint set boxes from JP's. They don't have the dividers but the quality is very good and they hold up well with time. They also hold more sets but the boxes don't stand-up well until the box is full since there are no dividers.

Thanks, Susan, I knew you wouldn't let me be an orphan for too long.

Thanks, SE. I like the ones with dividers because I prefer to take them out of the mint boxes and display them that way. I store the mint boxes and COAs in a separate container.

The best way to display US proof sets in the hard cases (1968 to date)IMHO is the Eagle albums...they fit on any bookshelf inside a safe or not...They are not cheap, but then quality usually isn't.

This years proof sets will have three lens since the new Presidential dollars are coming out. The boxes are not designed to hold three lenses. Not sure what to do with my 1999 thru 2008 boxes. Guess the mint never looked that far ahead.

I only have 4 proof sets along with a couple of mint sets but I just keep them in a little box in my cedar chest which is where I keep my whole collection.

Seems to me we will all have to adapt/modify our systems this year for the new Pres dollars...It will be hard to tell what to do for optimal display until we have some of the new proof and mint sets in hand.

My order from JPs has arrived. Their deluxe box is essentially the same as the one I have from the US Mint, although not identical. It holds 10 pairs of lenses and seems to be of comparable sturdiness and workmanship.

Just closing the loop FYI.
