Could someone plese tell me why the 2001 Sacagawea proof is worth so much more than the other proofs? I'm sure this question has been posted before. Sorry if this an old topic.

I honestly don't know. The mintage is comparable to other years. Maybe someone else will have more info on this.
Rest in Peace

I can't answer the question either, but I just paid a good chunk of change for one so that I could complete my collection.

BP,

not sure how much is too much. What are the asking prices for the coin?

On a related topic, I have all the sac proofs except the 2004. Last month I asked a local dealer if he had any and he said no, but he would be willing to crack out one from a proof set, for the bargain basement price of just $45. Or if I wanted the whole set I could get a real steal at $85. Geeez, do I really look like I just fell off the turnip truck? Of course I declined. I can only imagine the prices realized by some dealers at Christmas time when family goes shopping for their loved ones gift.

I'll wait until I see a price that's reasonable.

bpackertx,
I don't follow these, and don't know what price you are talking about, but the latest greysheet(nov/06)I have shows a(bid)$80 and(ask)$90.Original cost was somewhere around $20.This is for the 2001 10 coin proof set. This appears to be the most expensive clad proof set which includes the SAC$to go back and pick up.
This could be from a slightly lower mintage or demand since it was only the second year of mintage for the SAC$.
Hope this helps
