I am having trouble attributing this coin. I believe it to be an AE3 of Honorius RIC 146, minted at Nicomedia. But I can't seem to put my finger on a coin attributed with the star in the right field. Anyone have an idea?

OBV: DN HONORIVS PF AVG, diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right
REV: GLORIA ROMANORVM, Honorius standing front, head right, holding a globe & labaram, star in right field, SMNA in ex.

Interesting - the closest I can find is RIC IX Nicomedia 46c (page 263), however it has SMNB in exerge and is an AE2. It does have the star in right field though.

I've not had any luck with Not in RIC yet but it can take a while searching to find what your looking for.

That's got to be it. I don't have the coin in hand just yet, so it is possible the seller misidentified it as an AE3. In wildwinds, 46c is listed as "SMNGamma" in exergue, so I would assume the A is the workshop and may not have been listed in RIC. I will wait further investigation until I have the coin in hand. Thanks

No probs - it could be a 'Not in RIC'.

SMNGamma without star and SMNB with star are both covered by 46c

46b does contain an SMNA with star for Arcadius but not Honorius!

It may be in another RIC, I know some of the later books cover areas not fully catalogued earlier. You may have a lot of book-worming to do when it arrives to decide for sure. Nice find.
