I voted to get rid of the dollar bill. It's no longer needed. If people really complain, and lobbyists need to keep the pressure on, then at least make the $2 bill more mainstream.

I debated with get rid of the dollar bill and get out of the US because they're nuts in DC, but it doesn't let me vote, ever!

I voted get rid of the$1 bill. Your pollies should grow some balls and just do it. It has worked in Aus and Canada without a whimper and most of us actually prefer the Aussie Goldie and the Canadian loony to a grubby $1 note anyway. Why are so many people terrified of progress, It's insane.

Oh I think there were some whimpers, but they didn't last long. In the US, where so many people think the world owes them a living, they will probably last longer.

Quote: Why are so many people terrified of progress, It's insane. Looking at the poll results, I feel the problem is more political lobbying (Crane & Co.) than popular opinion. People fear change; however, everyone I talk to, when presented with the facts, end up being okay with the change. Most of them admit they use their debit/credit cards the majority of the time and probably would not notice when it happened. Same goes with eliminating the cent (and nickel).

I voted to get rid of the dollar bill. We literally have tons of coins in storage not getting used. Enough of them to where they are stopping making them. So why make more? Instead of making NIFC dollar coins, make NIFC dollar bills.

I think there are too many smart people on this forum to get a real sense of what the country wants or should do. I did vote to get rid of the dollar note, but I don't see that happening for many years, if ever in my life time.

I voted for Move to another country, they're all idiots in D.C. anyway, since in 1998, I moved from the US to the UK.
I do think that the US should get rid of the dollar bill.

Get rid of the following: half dollar, dollar note, two dollar note Introduce the two dollar coin. Perhaps it should be bimetallic and a similar size to the dollar coin.

I voted to get rid of the dollar coin.
I would much rather have a $5 note in my pocket than 5 $1 coins. JMO.

Quote: Get rid of the following: half dollar, dollar note, two dollar note Technically we already got rid of the Half Dollar, it is no longer minted for circulation. Quote: I would much rather have a $5 note in my pocket than 5 $1 coins. JMO. If you are doing it right, you should never have more than four of either one dollar coins or one dollar notes.
