This coin is a variety of the Riddell # 274. It uses a clearly different eagle die - I often refer to it as the Three toe bird without the "extra" small cactus pad. The Riddell reverse has a bird with 2 toes on the foot grasping the snake and there is a small pad under the foot that is NOT connected directly to the cactus.

Here is the version shown in Riddell.

Here is one of my Riddell 274B coins which matches yours. As the cap deteriorated it was recut - resulting in ever thickening letters.

The Riddell 274 and all of it's varieties are common - there are probably 1000 or more copies available.

Here is one of my favorites from my collection, a Fantasy coin. It is far scarcer and pretty wild looking.
