TJsCoins Pillar of the Community United States 3229 Posts	Posted 04/20/2012 7:01 pm I had posted the coin on the right about a year ago. A CCF member helped me to ID it as: Augustus, Philippi; Victory, Military Standards:) The coin on the left came to me in the same uncleaned lot. Had it soaking in olive oil for about a year. When inspecting it I was surprised that I did not see the resemblance earlier. I think that it too is an Augustus Philippi. What do you think? It was my understanding that this Augustus Philippi coin commemorated the defeat of Brutus & Cassius by Marc Anthony & Augustus in 42BC. FYI, Brutus committed suicide in this battle and Anthony covered him in a purple robe. Great history surrounding this battle.
