Barbara Livingston New Member Canada 1 Posts	Posted 05/28/2012 12:11 am Hi I have an 1826 Colombian gold coin. The denomination is 4 escudos. Does anyone know anything about this coin? I'd like to have it valued and possibly sent to auction, but I don't know much about it. I'd appreciate any help, advice or information anyone might have. Thanks! Looks like you have a nice piece, provided that it is genuine. 4 escudos was minted one year only, and while I don't see mintage figures in the catalog, it must be pretty low since they give nice premium over the bullion value. I'd say your best bet is to send it to a grading company to authenticate it and give it a grade (the value could differ by $ thousands for different conditions), and then, if it is indeed a genuine $4, sell it through a more reputable auction than ebay. Before you spend any money on a grading company you could weigh it (should be 13.5365 grams), and you could post a picture here or bring the piece to a local coin dealer. With these high value items there's always a good chance they are fake. Report this Post to the Staff
