Hello everyone,
I would welcome some opinions on this coins grade. Also what are your thoughts about actual mintage vs the amount of the coins still around? This coins mintage was 140,000. Do you think there were a lot of people in Fiji in the late 30's stashing these away like we do in the US when ever we see coins with low mintage? I don't think so. I know there were many service men who were there during these years but how many of them kept their coins? I'm just curious and would love to hear some thoughts for you guys and girls. Thanks in advance Derek

Small nation, small coinage requirement, with a small latter day collector demand.
Nevertheless, quite scarce and well worth including in a collection of World coins.

Due to the nature of the design on the reverse, harder to grade, but slight wear on the high points only. On the obverse, there is some obvoius but minor wear on the king's beard and moustache, and band to his crown above the ear.

Not impossible to obtain in Australia in this condition, which is in EF, Sheldon AU55.

Thanks for the thoughts Sel. I got this coin in a lot of 100 world coins I bought last week. I only paid 25 cents a coin. I think it was a good investment and it will certainly make a great addition to my world coin collection. I am going to put it next to my 1950 Fiji penny which only had 58,000 minted. Any thoughts on the grade of this coin? Thanks Derek

At 25 cents for this coin, you got a steal! Well done! Dunno about the others.
