This 1976-S Proof Bicentennial
Kennedy half DDR recently crossed my desk and I wanted to share with you. Though it is not a major
DDR, nonetheless, it still exhibits rather prominent notching and separation on the reverse lettering and design elements. Attached photos illustrate some of the doubling in various areas on the reverse. It appears this
DDR is a result of a Class II distorted hub doubling with a spread towards the center of the die.
I have checked with the CONECA web site and currently there are no DDRs assigned in their registry for the 1976-S Proof Bicentennial halfs. This proof
DDR could very well be a first.
If you have any '76 proof sets you might want to re-check your half for this
DDR. Of course, one should always examine closely all of the coins in the set. You never know what you might find.
Comments are welcome. Have a great day ...
