Looks like the sale is about to close ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/30075547369...t_500wt_1089 I suspect that the word COPY was scratched from within the shield where the word CENTS appears on original coins. ErrorCoins222 Pillar of the Community United States 1699 Posts	Posted 08/11/2012 8:54 pm I've always thought that if there was a fake item that wasn't taken off before it sold, that I would kindly contact the buyer after either the seller or the buyer had left feedback and see if they realized that it was counterfeit. It has the appearance of having been a cast piece. The crudeness of this copy, coupled with the poorly distressed planchet gives it an aged appearance that's deceptive to those unfamiliar with this colonial coin. On occasion, I have contacted successful bidders with a word of caution, but it's rare to be acknowledged, much less thanked.
