I've got to say abderrahim that this is a nice coin...nice error....not sure what type myself exactly...hopefully someone will help you out with this one...but fantastic pictures!
Wish I could answer your question as well, but could I ask how you are getting your pictures? Camera connected to microscope? Strong magnifying glass? (my loupe is only 10x, your pics look so much larger..)
Hello change4thebetter and darcymt and thank you, I use usb microscop Clerston X150max and I improved so necssaire with softwar for a pictures ACD see pro2.
The only thing I know about 1859 cents is that experts like to see the whole coin. Types are determined by more than one marker that us, not initiated, don't recognize. So, although your details are great, post a picture of each side of the coin for them.
Your coin is well known, the die crack on the G in GRATIA is die defining. It is a Haxby PC59-76a..? Which is obverse 76a + some reverse... The question relates to which reverse it has. This obverse was paired with at least 4 different reverses. Here is a link or 2 to get you started. Based on the 9, it may be a worn P15b reverse http://www.vickycents.com/om-dc-g-ratia.html http://www.vickycents.com/obv-o76a.html
