i found this on my desk after a good day of cleaning and if I remember correctly, and it is faint, I can see a D mint mark .. again, its really faint, and I did not have my loupe with me to take a picture. but I hope this helps.. if it is a D mint mark, what do you think the value would be, restored and all..

I am sort of new to this, but I wouldn't restore it. I think the value in current condition, if it is a D mint, would be around $70-$90. All going off from the Red Book and some research.

Young Numis- and good try, but thats not exactly how it works.
After a coin is restored, especially using vinegar, the value is severely reduced. Of course, its not worth anything dateless.

From experinence, I can you tell this coin was already soaked in vinegar to reveal the date, and then cleaned. I've found a couple of these and restored the dates. Max youll get on ebay is about $20 with date and mm clearly visible.

SD-well need a closeup of the MM area to be able to discern which mint it was. I dont see any MM, but what with the vinegar could have dissolved it a tiny bit. but it looks just like aa plain 1913. In that case maybe get $4 on ebay.

I just set my zoom level to 1,000% and it does NOT look like a "D" mint mark. It looks like a "II" mark under the "E" and touching the coins edge. If it was a "D" I would think it would be raised higher and more centered between the E & C in "FIVE CENTS"...

well you both were wrong, I did not soak it in vinegar or clean it... I had it soak in muriatic acid for a few minutes! does wonders!! you can pick it up at home depot for a few bucks... anyway...

yea I was having my doubts about the MM myself.. I kept staring at it and I saw something under the FIVE CENTS... I think its a plain indeed. Thanks

muriatic acid= Hydrochloric Acid(HCl), also found in your stomach acid

Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection along with not wearing any clothing that you do not want to have holes in it(HCl loves cotton, one little splatter droplet is all it takes).

i prefer muriatic acid.. I have tried a plethora of acids, etc, and muriatic seems to do the best, and does it quickly, 15-30 min MAX.
