I am going to my first Comic Con today with my son. Every year I have tried to go, something has derailed my plans. So, has anyone been to Comic Con and has seen any cool coins there? EDIT: Hubby just busted me for bragging about going to Comic Con Edited by CoinsKelly 12/01/2012 08:07 am

I used to collect comics when I was younger, wish I had the $$$ to buy some original art. I also attended many conventions in the 80's and should of sold off my comics in the 90's.
No coins in Comic Cons except whats in people pockets. LOL...

I know comic cons made their own tokens. Never been to a show. To be honest, I didn't know they still existed. Sounds like fun!

Word of warning though. The tokens I have seen were a bit on the suggestive graphic side. they were actually called "comic coins" may not be related. I have one example.

Wow, straight out of big bang theory. I know we are all nerds here but comic con, really!

If they sold a Comic Con commemorative 1ozt silver round at the event, it'd probably sell it out in a flash. To a population of affluent, dedicated collectors who unhesitatingly pay long bucks for collectible comics, I think a $40 silver commemorative token coin would be like pocket change.

Comic Con can be allot of fun, there are some real weirdo's there that really get into the characters they love (I mean literally). I don't remember seeing any coins there but there was so much going on I was really distracted quite a bit. I also didn't collect coins the last time I went so really wasn't looking for coins either
Edit: I just read everyone's posts and yes the show Big Bang Theory does come to mind when you think of Comic Con even though that show wasn't even thought of the last time I went
