Wow... I just realized when I posted last that I have over 500 posts, which means I am due for another contest. (Some of you may remember my saying this in my last contest) The question I have for you does not have anything to do with coins, but military history. I have here three medals of mine. I want you to tell me: a.)Country of origin b.)Why it was awarded c.)When (Campaign years work fine) *Note that the orange medal has the years 1914-1918 on it. THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER TO c.) For this medal, I want more specific dates.* Prize will be... a SURprise! Contest will end when I see a right set of answers, which leaves room for everyone. Anyone is eligible, and you can post as many times as you want! Have fun! Going good... I see I may need to give some hints though. You are right about the first one in the Japan respect. Here is a better pic. Reverse: Image: Close up reverse.jpg33.79 KB Number two is from the Somme. Keep in mind it is a CROSS. I'll do a close up of the maker for you, which should give you the origin if you can read it. Close up of makers mark: Image: Makers mark.jpg10.06 KB Number three. You are on the right track- it is Canadian- see if you can decode the cipher on the front- which tells you the reigning monarch at the time it was made. Close up of crest Image: crest close-up.jpg13.29 KB: Keep it up- your on the right track!

I think it is the second one. It might be from canada or French. I couldn't read the mark very well. I think is french. It must from a republic country since it comes without the crown, right?

The third is a George V memorial cross given to mothers and widows of fallen Canadian soldiers.
