Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson served as the Governor of Virginia from June 1779 to June 1781. He went on to be the third President of the United States, serving from March 1801 to March 1809 (two terms).

William McKinley
William McKinley served two terms as the Governor of Ohio between January 1892 and January 1896. He later became the 5th President of the United States, serving from March 1897 until his assassination in September 1901.

Meriwether Lewis
Meriwether Lewis was the Governor of the Louisian Territory from March 1807 to October 1809.
