I ready something in the 25000 nickel thread about 1995 buffalo errors a couple days ago, and since I did my 1st box of nickels today, I would like to know what the error is. I went back trying to find it but searching through over 300 pages to find it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Any help? I would greatly appreciate it. Edited by msteele 12/13/2012 8:09 pm

The Bison nickels were issued in 2005 as part of the Westward Expansion series, not 1995. You most likely saw a reference to the so-called "Speared Bison" which has a large die gouge bisecting the bison like a spear.

Add to that "detached leg", "shackled", "2-horn" & "unicorn". I've seen double-tails (not rev.), as well.

I knew that but I had 1995 LMC penny on the brain when I typed it. Fixed it

Here you go on the speared one. The other detached leg one is not really worth much of anything.Unless you got a nice BU with the leg completely detached.

I have a 2005 D Buffalo nickel and the D looks to be a RPM rotated about 120 degrees. I'm not sure if someone tried messing with it but I haven't been doing this very long and figure if there is one there should be more

No more RPMs after 1989. Starting with 1990, the mint mark was part of the design from dies. (No longer added by hand and all will be in the same location with the same shape after 1990 on all dies)

What is the 'bald buffalo' variety?
Thank you.

Another attempt to pass off worn/altered dies coins to sell to new collectors. IMOHO I'll stick with die varieties.
