Found a 1979 d with absolutely no hint of copper. Any ideas? Working on pics.

$200? You can get a decent pocket scale for less than $20. Looking at the images, it appears to be a normal fully struck Lincoln so it is not struck on a dime planchet. Without providing a weight, the best explanation is that the coin has been plated.

You can remove the copper plating from your US pennies - perhaps someone did that.

If it was a Zincoln, I believe the Zn would melt before the Cu. I vote for plated unless it is a mule, but looks the same size as a cent.

Gosh it is pre-zinc times. Interesting. I say it is plated, and probably zinc plated.
And you can chemically burn away the copper leaving just the zinc behind. Someone does it on Youtube - I havent seen it done to a UK penny yet.
