Searched 400$ In Ikes Whats The Deal With Type 2

So I was out of town, and always hit 2 banks on the way to my moms. Like clockwork, bank1 no halves, but they always have "big dollars", I grabbed all 400$ worth. No silver, no proofs, no 1973. I did find one 1972 type 2.

Whats the deal with the bicentenial type 2's? The one with the straight "R" in dollar. Iv been through about 1000$ in ikes and only have found one of these. They always have the curved R in dollar. I dont remember any super premium on that coin when I completed my 32 coin dansco, I only remember the 73 costing a premium.

I am confused. The Variety 2 1976 coins are much more plentiful than Variety 1.

Type one is the straight R bicent. Issued in 1975 mint sets only.

Ok, Sorry I had them switched around. Thanks for the info.

Are the type 1 hard to come by? They shouldnt be if they are in 1975 sets, which that is the one I'm talking about. I
actually have a 75 mint set, and thats the one I never find. I bet I had 120$ in bicentianials, and zero type 1's?

The 1976 (P & D) Variety 1 was minted in 1975 and released to circulation, not just in Mint Sets.

I may be wrong, but I thought both types weren't exactly uncommon. Now if you want to talk about the varieties found with the islands on the reverse type 3 is the rarest one.

Did you check the islands?

Cool, thanks for the info, guess its no big deal then that Iv only found one TYPE 1 eisenhower out of looking at over 200 bicentennials, I just thought it was odd, guess Iv been missing finding something common....lol...

Oh yeah, the one your looking for is 1972 philly TYPE 2, thats the good one.

Check out the 1976 mintage. Both are very common, one variety more than the other...
