I guess it's not surprising that Peter Kempson (a button manufacturer) might produce some tokens in brass rather than copper/bronze. Nevertheless, this is one of the few I've come across. It's actually more brown and less green than the images show but I couldn't capture it.

Warwickshire 197a in brass.

these tokens tell a story - pictorially, as well as by text.
Which is why I am so fond of them.
I don't think I've come across a brass one.
I've seen a few silver tokens, but they seem to always go for very high prices.

There is no real way in my opinion that any collector can differentiate between brass/bronze without XRF analysis or some other advanced analytical method ... even s.g. tests are questionable at times ... that Canadian Blackmsith delisted variety and Kleeberg Counterfeit Two Reales with many errors between copper, brass & bronze are two examples ... before I examined these off-metal 2 Reales a CC2R was never reported in bronze but always in brass is just one example ... sometimes low zinc makes the collector think copper, differentiating between tin and zinc (bronze & brass respectively) is never 100% without XRF analyses ... just saying ...

This certainly is a super piece, considering the design's fine detail. Kempson was a master die sinker, as this token so well attests. I can virtually imagine seeing some students, looking out the window!

As a longtime collector of U.S. Civil War tokens, I've been schooled to look for a yellow color before accepting it as a brass variety. The color of this condor token appears similar to CWT's that have been described as bronze.

You folks might well be right and I could even pop for $75 to have NGC do a metalurgical analysis. However, when I got the token, I asked my wife what she thought it was made of and, without prompting, she answered "brass". I never disagree with her!
