Worn Out Old US Coin? - Coin Community Forum

silverdollar2011 Valued Member United States 385 Posts	Posted 02/23/2013 11:25 pm hey guys, I found this very worn coin in a lot of foreign coins that I bought on ebay. the obverse seems to reveal some details of a coronet head while the reverse is super worn w/ no detail. sorry, I'm not familiar with classic US coins and their abundant varieties. is this a coronet head and what years could it range in? thanks for your help Report this Post to the Staff

The shape/style of the head looks like the Matron Head large cent struck from 1816 - 35. The diameter should be 28-29mm, possibly slightly under due to wear. A collector of "low ball" coins would love to have this piece in their collection. In this condition I'd say about a $10.00 coin not knowing the actual date. A nice find in a lot of foreign coins.
