There are ~ 300 bronze and 60 silver and one Gold of this medal. The founding "Fathers of Confederation" and special dignitary's received them in the years following the Confederation of Canada in 1867.

... and I don't think that her great granddaughter is going to give up her gold souvenir medal. The medal is 3" across.

The Belzberg auction #312 had a silver example (like mine) of this medal in it's sale but I didn't hear or see if the original case was included with their medal.

Their medal did look to be in absolute perfect condition whereas mine has the signs of some handling. Still, I think that it's a great piece too....and in the original case.
