It looks real pretty and the scanned pictures do no justice, makes it look bad but it's the best picture I can do. So what do you think this coin would grade based off these bad scans? Irishraider Pillar of the Community United States 1454 Posts	Posted 05/08/2007 6:45 pm I would put it at MS-64 and even as high as MS-65. I don't see any major contact marks in the focal areas that would bring it below a 64. The luster is hard to see on scans but even at that I can see it on here, just have to use your mind a little. Nice looking Peace dollar. Is it in a holder? I could see some hairline scratches on the obverse and on the reverse at about the 4 or 5 o'clock position it looks like a die crack. Sleaklight Pillar of the Community United States 827 Posts	Posted 05/08/2007 7:08 pm I took it out of the holder to take the scanne dpictures but taken a close look at it with a 10 X magnifies, the scratches on the cheek are indeed there, hard to see under 10 X but I guess they reflect some light to come up in the scanner and the one in the hair, it's a die crack and the reverse I can only the see the one across America and in the R,U,S in pluribus, no other scratches can be seen on the back with the magnifier. MS64 / 65 eh? Nice! Maybe I will consider sending it in for grading. Luster is still very evident in simple eye inspection Report this Post to the Staff

It's always hard to tell from a scan when a rub becomes a scratch and when out-of-focus is lightly struck details. Also, what's happening in the date between the "9" and the "2" at 6:00? I did see the stains but I don't think it will detract from it too much depending on exactly what the stains are. Could be organic material that may come off with conservation. Hard to say in a scan. I like it though, it's a nice coin. As soon as I get my copy stand built I am gonna be taking pictures like crazy. I will go with a final MS-64 on yours. My final answer. LOL.
