He has a large following and gets stupid money on some listings that most educated buyers pass on. That coin is a hole filler and past restoration. nlp

I agree and it's like GreatSouthernCoin whose auctions get way out of control. There's also a general ebay bidding frenzy that happens too often and so we just need to know when to bail out. I have a list of ebay sellers that I monitor and know that they have good coins at BIN reasonable prices.
I'm finding that many Heritage auctions can provide the buyer with better deals. The 'average' ebay buyer is perhaps intimidated by heritage and the winning bids are more in line with realistic prices.
I'm scratching my head over one I just listed. It's just a common 21 Morgan. Yet in the first hour I had 39 views and 5 watchers AND 6 bids. None of my other morgans had even had anyone view the page.....go figure.

Link me up; I'll let you know what I see. In the meantime, pour a glass of wine and sit there, enjoying the action.
if you have posted a Morgan on ebay and didn't have any lookers something must be wrong with your listing. I don't believe I have ever had an auction for a Morgan not get at least 15 views and most of them are closer to the 70-100 range with some going even higher than that. Can you show us a auction of yours and maybe we can give you a few pointers to get you some people at least looking at your auctions
ebay is a fools paradise if you don't have self-control. If you have the personality type that gets more invested in winning an auction than buying something at a fair price, you should stay away from high dollar items. Back in the early days of ebay, it was common to find some very nice deals. Today, with the 'professional' ebay sellers and the extravagant fees... great deals have to be sifted through a filter. Caveat Emptor!!
Although I cannot see the ebay auction at work, I have a feeling that I may be going "outta control" on a particular coin that I want for my collection...too late (more to follow).
In my case I wasn't opposed to them paying over spot but was confused at why they chose a junk coin for $33 when the exact same coin in AU went for .80 cents more. Not only would it look a lot nicer in a set but it has more silver in it than the worn down cull.
